Fridhem was built in 1890 and has been gently renovated to preserve its charm, while at the same time using eco-friendly power and gardening systems as well as a state of the art gigabit Internet connection to “live lightly”. Fridhem is based in the beautiful village of Stjärnsund, Dalarna approximately 200 km northwest of Stockholm. Stjärnsund is known for its rich history of creativity and progressive thinking stretching back to 1700, and was the home of one of Sweden’s best known inventors – Christopher Polhem. If you’d like to connect with other people it’s good to know that Fridhem is a course centre and hostel focusing on events such as yoga, qi gong, dance as well as nature related courses such as forest gardening and permaculture. So there’s always something interesting happening here! In the autumn the woods are full of mushrooms and berries.
