Dominica is 26 km broad and 47 km long. It is the most mountainous scenery in the area, with a dense cluster of nine volcanoes (one of which is active) and even more volcanic domes. The island's mountainous core, which is almost entirely covered in rainforest and hides over 350 rivers and waterfalls, remains mostly unknown. Under the waves, where mountains plunge straight down into the depths, colourful reef formations of dizzying cliffs and underground volcanic pinnacles are created that precisely match the topside scenery.
